H M Ship Providence from St Helena Islands towards [St. Vincents – 1793]

Remarks Sunday January 13th

 1 pm: Fresh breezes and thick cloudy weather

 2 pm: Clear weather – out Reefs & set the lower & Fore Top Mast Steering Sail

 4 pm: Cloudy – Swell from the NE Quarter

 5 pm: People washing and mending cloaths

 6 pm: At 6 a fresh gale – in Steering Sails, Top Gallant Sails and 1st Reefs Main Top Sail – worked the Pumps as usual – at 8 In 2d Reefs Mizen Top Sail

11 pm: Squally with Rain – in 2d Reef Fore & Main Top Sail

12 mid: Cloudy weather

 4 am: Ditto Weather

 6 am: Served thick portable Soup gruel for Breakfast – Cleaned below & aied with fires – Mustered in Divisions and performed divine Service – Saw flying fish

10 am: Served Krout

12 noon: Fresh Gale with thick Haze – Sun out at times
   Latitude Observed 6°..22′ North
