1 pm: Strong Gales and fine Weather Out 1st reefs of the Courses – Unbent the old Main topsail, bent the best and set it with two reefs in.
3 pm: Swayed up the Main Top Gallant Mast. – Sailmakers repairing Top Gallant sails.
4 pm: Unbent the old and bent the second best Foresail.
5 pm: Sheerwaters, Pintados & white Albatrosses.
6 pm: At 6¾ Wore Ship as did the Assistant.
8 pm: Fresh Gale and cloudy Weather Heavy Sea going – Out 4th reef of the Fore and 3rd of the Mizen topsail
12 mid: Fresh Breezes and fine clear Night, the Air sharp
4 am: Ditto Weather Wind abating and Sea much fallen
5 am: Pintados Carey chickens & Sheerwaters about.
8 am: Cloudy Weather Swayed up the Fore top gallant mast & let the 3rd reef out of the Fore topsail – Washed and cleaned below fore and aft – the Cockpits aired with Fires in the Stoves. People employed upon occasional Duty – Sailmakers about the Top Gallant sails
10 am: At 10 Squally. third reefed the Fore topsail.
12 noon: At Noon Fresh Gale & fair Weather rather hazey
Assistant in Company.
A Puncheon of Spruce beer broached.
