Flinders's Providence Logbook Mar 19, 1792

Remarks Monday 19th Towards Otaheite

 1 pm: Fresh Breezes & Cloudy Weather Shortened Sail for the Assistant – when she came up made Sail again

 4 pm: Saw several Albatrosses

 6 pm: The Pumps worked as usual

 7 pm: Before Dark Handed the Main sail and took 1st Reef in the Fore topsail

 8 pm: Fresh Gale & Cloudy Weather

10 pm: Squally – in 2nd Reef of the topsails

12 mid: Fresh Gale and Cloudy – A Fire kept all Night in the Galley

 3 am: Many luminous Blubbers in the Water

 4 am: Ditto Weather

 5 am: At Day break Made more Sail

 6 am: Saw a large brown and white Petterel the same as on the 17th

 8 am: Cleaned below and aired with Stoves

 9 am: Unbent the Fore topmast staysail to repair

10 am: Sailmakers repairing it – Unbent the Small Bower Cable

11 am: Wort att 11 as usual – A Cask of Spruce Beer broached a [&] given to the Ships Company instead of Wine

12 noon: Fresh Gales and Cloudy Weather
