Flinders's Providence Logbook Mar 18, 1792

Remarks Sunday March 18th 1792 Providence

 1 pm: Light Breezes and Cloudy Weather A long [still?] Swell from the Southward

 3 pm: Spoke the Assistant – All well on board

 4 pm: Light Airs and fine Cloudy Weather with clear Intervals

 6 pm: The Pumps worked as usual

 7 pm: The Sea illuminated in a remarkable Manner by Blubbers of an oblong form, particularly in the Ships wake, as if the Motion of the Ship had disturbed them

11 pm: A light Air springing up – fine cloudy Night

12 mid: A Fire kept all Night in the Galley and a Man at Boltsprit end looking out as usual

 2 am: Light Breeze & Cloudy Weather Let the first Reef out of the Main topsail

 4 am: Moderate Breeze and Cloudy

 5 am: At Day break Out 1st Reef Fore Topsail and set the Starboard Steering sails

 7 am: Set the Larboard Steering sails

 8 am: Moderate Breezes and pleasant Weather

 9 am: Cleaned below & aired with Fires – People mustered in Divisions, seen clean and Divine Service performed to them by the Captain

11 am: Wort at the usual Time

12 noon: Fresh Breezes and Hazey Weather
