1 pm: Moderate Breezes & foggy Weather Tacked Ship
2 pm: Saw Albatrosses, Silver Birds, some Rock-weed covered with Barnacles and a (Fin-back) small Whale
4 pm: the Weather rather Clearer
6 pm: The Pumps worked as usual
8 pm: Moderate Breezes & dark Cloudy Weather
9 pm: Obliged to shorten sail occasionally for the Assistant
12 mid: Fresh Breezes & Cloudy Weather A Fire kept all Night in the Galley to air the Ship
3 am: Took in the Fore Top Gallant sail
4 am: Several black-fish near the Ship
5 am: At Day break, found the Main topmast Trustle trees broke – Took in the Sail, sent down the yard and secured the Mast
8 am: Fresh Breezes and misty unpleasant Weather
9 am: Cleaned below and Aired with Fires
10 am: Sweet Wort served at the usual time
11 am: Saw several Patches of Rock-weed – Sailmakers top gallant the Old Mizen topsail –
12 noon: Fresh Breezes and thick misty Weather so much so that there was not the least
Chance of obtaining either a Meridian or Double Altitude for the Latitude
