Bond's Providence Logbook Oct 4, 1791

Remarks &c 4th October 1791

 1 pm: Fresh breezes and hazy weather.

 2 pm: Saw a large Shark and number of other sea fish; besides some Men of War birds. – Performed the usual Ceremony on crossing the Line. The swell much abated

10 pm: Luminous appearances in the sea at times.

12 mid: Fresh breezes and cloudy, in 2nd. reef of the Fore Top Sail – Saw many Porpoises.

 7 am: Fresh breezes and hazty.

 8 am: Fresh breezes and cloudy, with squalls at times. Made and shortened sail occasionally

10 am: Saw severl Portuguese Men of War (Nautilus) and flying fish, with some Porpoises.

11 am: Aired and cleaned below. At ½ past 11, in 2nd. reef Main Top Sail.

12 noon: Fresh gales and squally. Assistant in company
   No Observation
