Bond's Providence Logbook Oct 3, 1791

Remarks &c Monday 3rd October 1791

 1 pm: Fresh breezes and hazy weather with a swell from the Southward.

 4 pm: Caught a Bonetta

 5 pm: Aired the small sails

 6 pm: Squally with showers.

 9 pm: Moderate and hazy – kept a fire in the Galley all night

12 mid: A luminous appearance on the water – Fresh breezes and cloudy weather

 3 am: Squally with small rain; clewed down the Topsails

 4 am: Clear – Saw several Dolphins.

 6 am: Fresh breezes and cloudy. Saw a great many Albacores, Bonettas, Dolphins, Flying fish, and Squids.
This being Banyan day, served Borecole Pearl Barley, and Portable soup to the crew.

11 am: Cleaned below, and aired with fires.

12 noon: Fresh breezes and haze, with a swell from the Southward. Assistant in company. Broached a puncheon of Spruce Beer brewed on board
