Emma Young [Buffett] much burned by falling in to the fire.
March 7th.
Emma Young [Buffett] fast recovering
from the injuries sustained some days since.

Reuben Nobbs is in a convalescent state
but complains of much pain in the hip joint.

Experienced a heavy gale of wind
from the
westward which if it had been of long continuance
would have done incalculable damage. A
large piece of the Banyan tree was blown down
and the Flag staff broken off in the middle.

Matthew McCoy very narrowly escaped
with his life, his canoe being upset in the surf at
the west side of the Island was dashed to
pieces & himself very severely bruised against
the rocks. Had it not been for the assistance
of two other persons near at hand, he must
humanly speaking have been drowned.
