“Sir,—I beg to transmit, for the information of my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, a number of documents, brought by Capt. Seymour in the Challenger, relative to Pitcairn’s Island Mr. Hill appears to have assumed a power, and exercised a severity, and even cruelty, at Pitcairn’s Island quite unauthorized. It is much to be regretted that that once exemplary and interesting population should be under the influence of such a man. I am, &c., &c., &c.
