Journal

Constantly shipping water and bailing. In the Evening a few Boobies came about us one of which I caught with my hand. The blood was divided among three who were most in want, but the Bird I ordered to be kept for dinner. Served a Jill of water for Supper and two to those who chose it.

In the Course of the night we suffered much cold and Shiverings. At day light I found some of the Clams I had hung up to dry for Sea store, taken away, but every one most sacredly denied it. Saw a Gannet, a Land Lark and some water snakes. Served 1/24 pound Bread and water for Breakfast and the same at dinner with the Bird which I issued according to the usual way of "who shall have this["]. I determined to make Timor in the latitude of 9°..30′ or 10..00 South.
