1:00 pm Fresh Breezes and Cloudy. This afternoon many different kinds of Albatrosses came from the South. Some Pintada Birds and many Blue Peterels and Sheerwaters. A Very heavy Swell from the Southward.
5:00 pm Caught Two Albatrosses that measured 7 Feet 6 Inches from Tip to Tip of the Wing.
8:00 pm Fresh Gales and Cloudy in 2nd Reefs.
1:00 am Down Top Gallant Yards.
2:00 am Strong Gales with heavy Gusts of Wind. Close Reefed the Fore Topsail and triple Reefed the Main Topsail.
4:00 am Rain Handed Mizen Topsail. Swell from the South abating.
8:00 am Strong Gale and thick Rainy Weather. Served Portable Soup Gruel for breakfast as usual and at 11 O'Clock a Pint of Sweet Wort per Man. Cleaned and dryed below.
12:00 pm Ditto Weather. No Observation. Swell from the South entirely down. No Birds.
