[H M Ship Providence from Jamaica towards] England – 1793

Remarks Saturday June 29th

 1 pm: Moderate breeze and fine weather

 2 pm: Squally with Rain – passed Gulph weed

 4 pm: Fresh breezes and fine weather – In 1st Reef Fore Top Sail

 5 pm: Out 1st Reef Main Top Sail – worked the Pumps

 7 pm: Squally with Rain shortened Sail occasionally Exercised great Guns – at 7 In 1st Reef Main Top Sail

 9 pm: Moderate breezes & cloudy weather

11 pm: Squally with Rain

12 mid: Light breeze & cloudy weather

 4 am: At Day light Assistant, Antelope, Thomas & Cleminson in company – Several Dolphin seen – Served thick gruel for breakfast

 8 am: Light airs & fine clear weather – Saw a Tropic bird

10 am: Got up the Chests and Bags & washed well below – Aired ship with fires in the Cockpit Stoves – Exercised small Arms with Marines & new entered Men

12 noon: At Noon Light Airs and fine weather – same Ships in Company, as this morning
