[Log Book &c. of H M S Providence from Port Praya in the Island of] St Iago towards the Cape of Good Hope

Friday September 30th 1791

 1 pm: Moderate Breezes and clear weather – saw several Sea Birds

 4 pm: Saw a Man of War Bird

 8 pm: Moderate and hazy kept a fir in the Galley throughout the night to air the Ship

12 mid: A Long swell from the Southward

 8 am: Clear weather cleaned the Ship below and kept the Brodie Stoves lighted

10 am: Exercised the Marines at Small arms

11 am: Made the Assistants signal to make more sail

12 noon: At Noon moderate and clear a Long swell from the Southward
   Latitude Observed 2°..18′ North
