2 am: Hazy light Airs – At 2 being taken aback hauled about and stood to the Westward on the Larboard Tack
3 am: At 3 Tacked, the ship falling off to NBW
5 am: At ½ past 5 the Assistant bore North ¼ of a mile and soon after lost sight of her
6 am: Thick Foggy weather
7 am: Thick foggy weather
8 am: Fired a swivel, the Assistant answered it by another
9 am: Fired two guns, which were answered by ye Tender
10 am: At 10 saw the Tender about a Mile and a half astern, shortened Sail for her
12 noon: At Noon all Sail set – Made Sail – Mustered the Ships Company in Divisions –
Washed the Gun deck and cleaned the ship fore and aft – The fog clearing up –
Assistant in Company – Latitude Observed 38..58 North
