July 1791

Friday 1  Fresh Breezes & Cloudy Employed straping Blocks for the yards in the Room of Brace pendants AM Employed upon the Rigging. Sailed hence His Majestys Cutter [Kile?]

Saturday 2  Ditto Weather PM Employed as before at 8 AM The Pilot came on board. Lashed the Beer Casks on Deck & Employed getting ready for Sea.

Sunday 3  Ditto Weather PM Employed upon the rigging AM Received 6 Halfhogsheads of Beer

Monday 4  First part Fresh Gales & Cloudy with Rain Middle & Latter Strong Gales & Squally PM Getting ready for Sea at 7 AM Unmoored & hove into ½ a Cable on the Small Bower & Moored with the Cadge Anchor & Cables Received on board 172 pounds of Fresh Beef

At Single Anchor In Gallions

Tuesday 5  Strong Gales & Squally PM at 8 Weighed the Cadge Anchor & Moored as before AM Ditto Weather with Rain at Times at 7 Unmoored & hove Short on the Small bower at 11 Weighed & Shifted our Birth at ½ past Anchored with the Small bower in 3 Fathoms Water Employed as Necessary Ships draught of Water Forward 9..3 Aft 9..11

Working up to the Little Nore

Wednesday 6  Ditto Weather with Flying Showers PM at 2 weighed & made Sail in Company with he Providence at 8 Anchored below the Nore in 5½ fathoms Water with the Small bower The Nore Lights bearing West AM at 11 Weighed & made Sail in Company with the Providence.

Moored at the Little Nore

Thursday 7  Strong Gales & Squally PM Working up to the Little Nore PM at 1 Anchored with the Small bower in 6 Fathoms Water in the Little Nore at 8 Moored with ½ a Cable each way the Garrison WSW & [?] Point West AM Received a Corporal & 4 Private Marines Admiral Dalrymple Visited us.
