Flinders's Providence Logbook Jan 20, 1793

Remarks ☉ [Sunday] January 20 1793 From St Helena

 1 pm: Moderate Breezes & fine Weather

 2 pm: Sailmakers repairing the Jib

 3 pm: People shifting their Hammocks

 4 pm: Ditto Weather Saw a strange Sail about 2 Leagues to the WNW made the Signal to the Assistant. At 5½ Bore away after a Sloop standing to the SE. set Larboard Studding sails. She shewed no Colours; and finding we did not come up with her, we hauled up to our Course, the Night coming on

10 pm: Carryed away the Main royal Mast

12 mid: Moderate Breeze & fair Weather

 2 am: Squally Weather made and shortened sail occasionally

 4 am: Ditto Weather

 5 am: The Watch scrubbing their Hammocks.

 8 am: Fresh Breezes. – Aired below with Fires Mustered the People in Divisions, saw them clean and Divine Service performed by the Captain

12 noon: At Noon Moderate Trade & fine Weather
Assistant in Company.
