Flinders's Providence Logbook Nov 23, 1792

Remarks Friday 23rd Towards the Cape of Good Hope

 1 pm: Fresh Breezes & fair Weather

 2 pm: People employed about the rigging and scraping the Quick-work

 4 pm: Cloudy Weather Saw Sheerwaters and a Pintada Bird

 7 pm: In Fore topmast Studding sail & 1st reefs

 8 pm: Fresh Breezes & Cloudy Weather

11 pm: Squally Weather In Top Gallant sails & 2nd reef Fore topsail

12 mid: Thick cloudy Weather with rain.

 1 am: The Assistant astern. shortened Sail for her. – made Sail again as soon as the Assistant regained her Station.

 4 am: Cloudy Weather Set Top Gallant sails.

 5 am: Let the 2nd reef out of the Fore topsail.

 7 am: Ship falling off. Tacked to the Northward

 8 am: Moderate Breezes & Cloudy Weather

 9 am: Fine Weather Unbent the old Fore topsail and bent the second best. Aired the Small sails. People employed as before about the rigging A Cask of Spruce-beer broached for the Ships Company instead of Grog as usual every other Day

12 noon: At Noon Moderate Breezes and fair Weather
Assistant ahead.
