Flinders's Providence Logbook Jul 27, 1792

Remarks Friday 27th In the great South Sea

 1 pm: Fresh Gales and cloudy Weather with a confused heavy Sea setting after us

 3 pm: At 3 Splitt the Fore topsail unbent it and bent the second best Sailmakers repairing the old one and the People fitting the best

 6 pm: At 6 Under close reefed Fore and Main topsails Got down the Fore Top Gallant yard

 8 pm: Strong Gales and cloudy with a high following Sea the Ship rolling very deep

12 mid: A strict look out kept as usual

 4 am: Strong Gales & fair Weather Got down the Main top gallant yard

 6 am: At Day break Set the Fore sail Ship nearly rolling her Gunwhales under

 7 am: At 7 Out 4th reefs of the Fore and Main & Set the Mizen topsail

 9 am: Employed upon the new Fore topsail and the Sailmakers repairing the old one

10 am: At 10 Out 3rd Reefs – Cleaned below – Fresh Pork served

12 noon: At Noon Fresh Gales Cloudy Weather A heavy following Sea and Ship rolling deep
