Flinders's Providence Logbook Apr 1, 1792

Remarks April 1st 1792 – Towards Otaheite

 1 pm: Moderate Breezes and fair Weather Out all Reefs and set Steering sails

 3 pm: Saw some Egg-Birds a Tropic Bird with a red Tail and a small brown Sheerwater

 5 pm: Light Airs – Worked the Pumps

 8 pm: Moderate Breezes and fine Weather Hauled down the Starboard Steering sails

10 pm: Fine cloudy Weather

12 mid: Strong Breezes and fine Weather In Steering sails

 2 am: In 1st Reefs and otherwise shortened Sail occasionally for the Assistant

 5 am: At Day break – Out 1st Reefs and made all Sail

 8 am: Cleaned below – Saw two Tropic Birds and an Egg-bird – The People mustered in Divisions, seen clean and Divine Service performed to them by the Captain – A Cask of Spruce Beer boached for the Ships Company Sweet Wort at the usual Time

12 noon: Moderate Breezes & Cloudy Weather
