1 pm: Moderate breezes and fair weather
2 pm: At 2 sent for Lieutenant Portlock – filled and made sail. Several water spouts to the Southward, one of which was very distinct at the distance of about 4 miles. Light showers of rain.
4 pm: At 4 light breezes and fine weather Exercised great Guns and small Arms
7 pm: At 7 hove to and sent Lieutenant Portlock on board in boat and made sail
12 mid: Moderate breezes and fair weather
4 am: Light squalls
5 am: At day light the Jupiter, Mary, and 2 strange sail in sight bearing NW. and another strange sail bearing South.
8 am: Fresh breezes and fair weather with haze. At 8 Tacked ship – Up all chests and bags and washed well below. Carpenters employed repairing the Cutter. Exercised Great Guns & small Arms. At ½ past 10 hove to and on board the prize Schooner for a sick man – At 11 in Cutter and made sail.
12 noon: At Noon moderate breezes and fair weather with haze in the Horizon – Ships in sight,
and company as before
