1 pm: Moderate breezes and fine weather Sailmakers on the Jibb, and Carpenters making Main Top Gallant Mast.
3 pm: At 3 Hour.30′ Assistant made ye Signal for seeing the land in the WbN. answered it. Saw the Island of Barbadoes from the mast head.
5 pm: At 5 Barbafoes WbN 10 or 11 leagues. At 6, Ditto WNW 7 or 8 leagues. At 6.30 hove to, out yawl & sent for Lieutenant Portlock. At 7 he returned: in boat & swayed up the new Main Top Gallant Mast
8 pm: At 8 Barbadoes NWbW – At 11 the East and N½W, 7 or 8 miles
12 mid: At 12 the land bore from NNW to NNE. At 2 the West End NNE
6 am: At 6 Barbadoes from NE to ENE 10 or 11 leagues. At 6 Hour.15′ saw high land from the Mast Head bearing WNW.
7 am: Served the usual breakfast of thick Portable Soup Gruel
8 am: Pleasant breezes and fine weather Extremes of the land from N65°W to N75°W, 9 or 10 leg.
9 am: Washed below and aired with fires. Saw a sail ahead; some se abirds and Flying-fish.
10 am: At 10 St. Vincents bore from N66°W to N74°W and St. Lucia from N30°W to N35°W. At 10 Hour:30′ the Grenadines N85°W. At 11 spoke a sloop from Granada bound to Surinam with Slaves.
12 noon: At Noon moderate and fair weather – Grenadines from S79°W to S89°W
6 or 7 leagues – St. Vincents from N58e°W to N81°W, 6 or 7 leagues. St. Lucia from
N27°W to N22°W 9 or 10 leagues distant
