4 pm: Squally in 2nd & 3rd reefs, and down Top Gallant Yards. High Hill of Rottee S57°W – Timor from N47°W to N58°E. High Mountain in ye Valley N16°E off shore 4 or 5 miles
5 pm: At [blank] PM Timor from NW¼W to NE. High Mountain in ye Valley NbE½E off shore 7 or 8 miles – At 5 Hour.50′ Tacked ship, Rottee high Hill WbS; North point of Rottee N60°W Hills in the Valley NbE½E off shore 4 leagues
8 pm: At 8 Moderate and clear weather
9 pm: At 9.25 Tacked ship – saw a fire on the shore – up Top Gallant Yards – out 3rd reefs
12 mid: At 12 Tacked ship – At 2 Tacked ship and set Top Gallant Sails
4 am: At 4 AM out whale boat and Cutter, ½ past 5 sent the boats to lead a head of the Assistant and at 6 bore away, Extremes of Rottee S56°W to S88°W distant 6 leagues. Timor N60°W to N56°E High Mountain in ye Valley NNE½E off shore 2 leagues – At 8 Rottee S58°W to S85W 3 or 4 leagues distant. Timor N61°W to N61°E 5 or 6 miles – At 8 Hour.25′ Eastern part of Rottee SWbS – At 10 made ye Assistants signal to come nearer
10 am: At 10 Hour.20′ South part of Timor & NE part of Rottee N3°W & S3°E soundings as per column at that time, and a strong current setting to the Eastward
11 am: At 11.30 Fore Top Sail Sheet gave way – Squally in 3rd reef Top Sails and mae ye Assistants signal to examine the anchorage, at 11.40 bore away
12 noon: At Noon fresh breezes with strong squalls Brig and Boats leading, Lead constantly going, Extremes of the Passage SWbS and South. SW point of Coepang Bay N50°E distant 3 miles NE point of Pulo Samow N31°E distant 2½ miles.
