Bond's Providence Logbook Sep 30, 1792

Remarks &c towards Timor 30th September 1792

 1 pm: Fresh breezes and hazy – At 1.20 bore away.

 3 pm: People washing and mending their Clothes

 4 pm: Saw a Man of War bird, and some brown Gulls.

 6 pm: rather squally

 8 pm: Cloudy.

10 pm: Fair weather

12 mid: Moderate breezes and fine weather

 1 am: Squally – Hauled to the wind on the Starboard Tack

 3 am: Wore ship.

 4 am: Fresh breezes

 5 am: Wore ship – At 5 Hour.40 Minutes saw the Island of Timor in the NWbN – made ye signal, and bore up.

 6 am: At 6:30 the Land bore from N15E 6 leagues to N74W about 4 leagues. off shore about 10 or 12 miles. Made all sail – Served the usual Breakfast.

 8 am: Light breezes inclinable to little or no wind – Extremes of the Land from NNE½E to WbN – At 10 Hour.30 Minutes saw the Island of Rottee bearing WSW – Mustered in Divisions, and Performed Divine Service in the Cabin. Served Krout, but none in the Pease for Dinner.

11 am: At 11 saw white water hauled to the wind, spoke the Assistant who bore away to sound a head. Assistant made ye signal to follow without Danger.

12 noon: Moderate breezes and fine weather – Island Rottee S70W to N72W 7 leagues. High Hill of Rottee S74W. – Island Tinmor from N32°W 7 leagues to N50E 6 leagues. A mountain in the valley N13E off shore 4 leagues
