Providence Logbook Jan 15, 1793

Remarks Tuesday 15th January 1793 [Towards] St. Vincents

 1 pm: Very fresh Gales and Cloudy Weather with a very thick Haze. Observed very strong riplings of Currents.

 5 pm: Spoke the Assistant, all well.

 6 pm: Let fresh Water into the Ship and worked the Pumps. Double Reefed the Fore Top Sail and in Steering Sails.

12 mid: Fine Star light Night

 5 am: Fair Weather and extremely Hazy.

 6 am: Served a Hot Breakfast &c as usual.

 8 am: Cleaned below and washed fore and aft, dried with Fires. Out Reefs and set Fore Top Mast Steering Sail. Sailmakers repairing Sails. Broached a Puncheon of Spruce Beer.

12 noon: Strong Trade fine Weather with Haze. Obliged to proportion our Sail to the Assistant, as we out carry her in these strong Winds.
