1 pm: Light Airs with thick drizling Rain and dark Cloudy Weater

 2 pm: I hauled the Wind to the Southward as I knew myself near to Savage Island.

 4 pm: Rain abated and Horizon clearer.

 5 pm: The Assistant made the Signal for seeing Land. Saw Savage Island from the Mast Head WbS½S but no part could be seen from the Deck. Just at dusk I could see it from the Fore Yard and suppose myself about 7 leagues from it. It appeared a flat surface without one rising or Hill. Steered to the Northward of it.

10 pm: Smart Rain and thick Weather. I sent the Assistant a head

12 mid: Drizling Rain

 6 am: Dark Cloudy Weather. Set Studding Sails and Royals

 7 am: Served thick Gruel &c for Breakfast. Bore Cole and Portable Soup mixed with their Pease for Dinner.

 8 am: Cleaned below & hung up all wet things to dry. Sailmakers repairing the Main Top Gallant Sail. Carpenters the Pinnace and making Scuttles.
Served Slops. Exercised small Arms and fired. Taylor employed making Coats of Mail for the Boats Crews out of Otaheite Cloth.

11 am: Serveyed worn our Rope.

12 noon: Dark Cloudy weather with frequent spitting Rain, but near Noon the Sun gave us a tolerable Latitude
