Strong Gales and Squally with heavy Rain at times. at ½ past 4 p.m. came too in St. Helens Road in 7 fms & veered ½ a Cable, Bembridge Point SBW and the land Mark WSW. At 7 A.M. Struck yards & Top Masts and Veered to a Whole Cable, Cleaned below and dryed.
Monday10SWFresh Gales and hazy Wr. P.M. I sent an Officer to Rear Admiral Sir Francis Samuel Drake with a Weekly Acct. A.M. up Yards & Topmasts and aired Sails. Found Riding here His Majestys Ship Orion Captn. Sir Hyde Parker, sent the large Cutter for Water, Hands making Puddens for the Yards.
Tuesday11Do.Moderate and hazey Weather hove in to ½ a Cable. Employed the Cutter a Watering.
Wednesday12Do.Do. Wr. with Strong Gales in the Middle and latter part. Employed making Matts and Ropebands.

Very Variable Wr. with Thunder and Lightening. The Clerk of the Checque paid His Majestys Bounty to some of the People. Employed Airing Sails and Striking Top Gallt Masts.

Do. Wr. Aired Sails and got up Top Gallt Masts. Cleaned and dryed below, and employed making Ropebands & Points for Spare Sails.

Variable Wr. and Rain. Dryed and Cleaned below. Sighted the Anchor and came too again as before. Finding my Best Bower Cable wore and this place not convenient to get provisions on board I determined to go up to Spithead.
