From reports received we hear of the loss of the whaleship Corinthian, August 31st, on Blossom's Shoal, north of Icy Cape, in the Arctic Ocean. The vessel had taken thirteen whales, at the time she was lost. The George Howland brings down the best part of her cargo.

Loss of a Whaler. – The ship Corinthian, Capt. Valentine Lewis, was lost on Blossom Shoal, Arctic Ocean, on the 31st of August last. The ship went ashore during a snow storm. At six o'clock in the morning it was discovered that the ship was in shoal water, and that she was jammed between the shore and the ice. It was impossible to work the ship lively on account of the blocks and rigging being frozen, and the wind was blowing fresh and the current setting in to the shore. She struck at 9-1/2 o'clock and immediately fell over on her beam ends. The next day the crew was rescued by the George Howland, Capt. Knowles. The Corinthian had taken thirteen whales during the season.
