1:00 pm Wet Foggy and sometimes thick Rain with Intervals of Fair Weather which enabled me to get Double Altitudes as follows.

5:00 pm Foggy.
Saw a Seal. Clewed all Sails up. Many Albatrosses about particularly the Black Grey called Old Curates. Sounded 230 fathoms Line no Ground.

Monday, Sep. 22, 1788

12:00 am Cloudy Weather.

2:00 am Wet Foggy Weather.

5:00 am Moderate & Cloudy.

7:00 am Saw Rock Weed.

8:00 am Served Portable Soup Gruel as usual.

9:00 am Employed making Points. Cleaning and Airing below and Sailmakers repairing Main Top Mast Staysail.

12:00 pm Fair Weather & Moderate Breezes. Swell from the NE considerably more than I have found it since I came round ye South of New Zeland. Under all Sails. No Birds.
