Friday, Feb. 1, 1788
1:00 pm Light Airs & very Cloudy.
4:00 pm Saw a great many Birds of the Peterel kind & Fish.
6:00 pm In Steering Sails.
9:00 pm Squally with much lightning and Rain. The Sea covered with luminous Spots, and many like Shoals.
Saturday, Feb. 2, 1788
12:00 am Made Sail.
4:00 am Wore ship.
8:00 am Moderate Breezes & fair Weather saw a Sail in NNW from the Top Gallant Yard on a Wind as we are, but too far off to see Colours if they were hoisted at the Mast head.
11:00 am Many Tropical Birds of the Brown Peterel kind, White about the Belly. Abundance of Fish but we can catch none.
12:00 pm At Noon fair Weathe all this Morning Employed making Points & drying Wet Cloaths. Airing & Cleaning below for the Air being very Sultry & damp it is all I can do to keep the peoples accomodations Clean & Wholesome.
