1:00 pm Fresh Breezes and very hazy Weather. Steered to the South to Clear the Salvages & have a safe Run for the Night.
6:00 pm In all Steering Sails but the Foretopmast.
11:00 pm In Fore Topmast Steering Sail.
Saturday, Jan. 5, 1788
12:00 am Supposing myself to the Southward of the Salvages Steered more to the Westward.
6:00 am Very Cloudy Weather. Made all Sail and Steered a direct course for Tenariff.
9:00 am Saw Tennariff bearing WBS½S. Cleaned and dryed below very Cloudy over the Land. Saw the Grand Canary bearing South.
12:00 pm Moderate & Cloudy the extremes of the Island from West to S62W. Two Rocks which may be called the Brothers W2S and a very high Rock like the Needles W3S 4 leagues. The Brothers are the North of all the Land. No Birds or Fish seen.
