Tobin's Providence Logbook Dec 13, 1792

[H M Ship Providence from Timor towards] St. Helena – 1792

Remarks Thursday December 13th2

 1 pm: Moderate breeze and fine weather painting boats & Gunners as before – and hands blackening the chain plates

 4 pm: Saw Tangle weed

 8 pm: Cloudy weather

10 pm: The breeze increasing

12 mid: Fresh breezes and cloudy

 3 am: Ditto Weather The Assistant dropping a stern – in Main Top & Top Gallant Steering Sails

 5 am: Made all Sail – saw several pieces of tangle weed, & a Sheerwater

 8 am: Served the usual breakfast

 9 am: Cloudy weather – up all Chests and bags, and had a thorough wash below – Carpenters and gunners finishing the painting – Seamen blackening and new stowing the starboard booms &c – Sailmakers about the old Sails – Served Krout to the People

12 noon: Fresh breezes and hazy
   Latitude Observed 19°..24′ South
