Tobin's Providence Logbook Sep 29, 1792

[H M S Providence] 1792

Saturday 29th September 1792

 1 pm: Moderate breeze and fine weather – all sail set

 3 pm: Hauled down the Lee steering sails

 4 pm: Fresh breezes

 5 pm: Finished the Cutter and got her in her place

 7 pm: Shortened Sail and in 2d Reefs – Spoke the Assistant and sounded – A swell from the ESE Quarter

12 mid: Fresh breezes and pleasant weather – fine moon light

 4 am: Moderate breezes and hazy horizon

 5 am: Made all Sail – Saw great numbers of flying fish and Tropic Bird – Swell from ENE

 8 am: Ditto Weather – served the usual Breakfast – people employed shifting their hamacoes and airing their bedding

11 am: Saw a large flock of birds of the Gull kind

12 noon: Fresh breeze with some Clouds – hauled on a wind to make the Land – Assistant leading
   Latitude Observed 10°..19′..30″ South
