3 pm: Light rain and Squally with a strong breeze
5 pm: Weighed under close reefed Top Sails and Top Gallant Masts struck – The Assistant and Boats leading – at 5..20 A Strong Squall with rain – brought up with the Best Bower 6½ fathoms sandy Bottom – The Twins bearing from S81°E to S69°E about 7 Miles – The Cap S80°E veered to ½ a Cable
8 pm: In Boats – at 8 Strong gales and Squally veered to a whole Cable – sounded 5 fathoms [?] the Best Bower and struck the Lower Yards
12 mid: Ditto Weather
4 am: Hove in to ½ Cable Service on the weather tide
5 am: Out Whale boat and sent her for Lieutenant Portlock – Strong breeze – Served the usual Breakfast
8 am: Veered to a whole Cable – Cleaned below – People employed rounding and worming the Cable and refitting the Ground Tackle – Portable Soup & Krout in the Pease for dinner
12 noon: At Noon fresh Gales and thick hazy weather
