1 pm: Moderate Breezes and cloudy
3 pm: Saw several Whales, Albatrosses, Pintada Birds, & Sheerwaters
5 pm: Bent the Best Bower Cable and wore towed the Anchors [that's what it says, I don't know what it means]
10 pm: Fresh Breezes with frequent Squalls and drizling rain
2 am: At ½ past 2 Shortened Sail hove too and sounded with 130 Fathoms but found no Bottom at 3 Bore up and made sail – Squally, in 1st Reef Main & 2d Fore Top Sail
6 am: Fresh Breeze and clear – out Reefs.
7 am: Caught a Porpoise with the Harpoon
8 am: Fresh Breezes and very hazy saw a number of Sea fowl of different kinds among them some Gannets – Set the Royals and Small Sails – at ½ past 10 Saw the Land. The Sugar Loaf bearing S66°..30′ East – At Noon the Table Hill S61° East Lion's Head S70°East Lions Rump S73°East
12 noon: At Noon moderate and hazy the Assistant in Company Latitude Observed 33°..56′ South
