Tobin's Providence Logbook Oct 26, 1791

[Log &c. of H M S Providence from Port Praya in the] Island of St. Iago towards the Cape of Good Hope in 1791

Wednesday October 26th

 1 pm: Fresh Breezes and dark cloudy weather – made the Assistants Signal to make more sail

 5 pm: Saw several Pintada Birds – and different kinds of Sheerwaters

10 pm: Moderate and cloudy

 5 am: Dark cloudy weather the air very sharp

 8 am: Saw several Albatrosses Mother Careys Chicken and sheerwaters – Got up the Chests and Bags washed the Gun deck and cleaned the Orlop – aired with fires – aired also the small Sails and over hauled them – Set up the Main Top Gallant Rigging – The Armourer working at the forge

12 noon: At Noon More fair Latitude Observed 28°..19′ South
