Flinders's Providence Logbook Dec 12, 1792

Remarks ☿ [Wednesday] December 12th 1792 H.M.S. Providence

 1 pm: Moderate Breezes & fine Weather

 2 pm: John Curry Seaman punished with 18 Lashes for petty Theft, the Article of War he fell under read to him.

 4 pm: Fine Weather Took in the Starboard Lower Studding sail

 6 pm: Water let into the Ship and Pumps worked to ventilate below.

 8 pm: Fresh Breezes & hazey Weather

12 mid: Some Dew falling.

 4 am: At Day break (5h) Set all the Studding sails.

 5 am: Some Tropic Birds & brown Sheerwaters seen

 8 am: Cloudy Weather

 9 am: Passed many Nautili and some weed. Sailmakers about the old Main topsail – Carpenters painting the Launch &c Gunners painting the Guns & Carriages – People stropping and over hauling spare hanging & Topsail sheet Blocks. – A Cask of Spruce broached for the People instead of Grog as usual every other Day.

12 noon: At Noon Moderate Breezes & fine Weather some Haze about the Horizon
