Flinders's Providence Logbook Dec 8, 1792

Remarks ♄ [Saturday] December 8th 1792 Towards St. Helena

 1 pm: Fresh Gale & fine Weather – Many Porpoises about the Ship.

 2 pm: Saw Sea fowl and some Portuguese Men of War

 4 pm: Ditto Weather People scraping the Upper Decks.

 5 pm: Pumps worked as usual to ventilate the Ship below.

 8 pm: Fair Weather Set the Larboard Studding sails.

 9 pm: A heavy Dew falling.

11 pm: Saw a Meteor in the SE.

12 mid: Cloudy Weather A Hand at the Starboard Cat head looking out.

 4 am: Fine clear Weather

 5 am: All Sail set.

 8 am: Fresh Breezes & fine Weather Carpenters caulking the Quarter Deck and painting. People scraping the Main Deck. A Cask of Spruce Beer broached for the People.

12 noon: At Noon Fresh Breezes and fair Weather thick Haze about the Horizon.
Assistant in Company.
