Flinders's Providence Logbook Sep 22, 1792

Remarks Saturday 22nd 1792 H.M.S. Providence

 1 pm: Moderate Breezes and fine Weather with Haze

 2 pm: Set the after studding sails

 3 pm: Passed Fields of brown Scum and some rockweed

 4 pm: Ditto Weather

 5 pm: Spoke the Assistant – Took in Studding sails Top Gallant sails and 1st reefs – Hoisted in the Boats and hauled to the Wind on the Starboard Tack

 8 pm: At 8 Wore Ship per Signal and continued to do so during the Night every two Hours

12 mid: Moderate Breezes and cloudy Weather

 4 am: Fresh Breezes

 5 am: At 5:40 Bore away, Out all reefs, set Top gallant sails and studding sails

 8 am: Fresh Breezes and fair Weather with a following Sea

 9 am: Washed below fore and aft – Sailmakers making Screens for the Greenhouse abaft – Saw a great many Porpoises one of them Harpooned and got on board

10 am: At 10 The Assistants Signal to steer WNW

12 noon: At Noon Fresh Breezes and fair Weather
