5 pm: At 5·20 Brought up with Best Bower in 6½ Fathom black sandy Bottom – The Brothers bearing from S61°E to 69°E 7′ – the Cap S60°E – Veered away ½ Cable – Hoisted in the Boats
9 pm: Strong Gales and squally Weather Veered away the whole Cable Service – Struck Lower yards
12 mid: Strong Gales and cloudy Weather
4 am: Hove in the half Cable Service
5 am: At Day break Hoisted out the Whale Boat and sent her on board the Assistant for Lieutenant Portlock
8 am: Fresh Gales and cloudy Weather Veered away the whole Cable Service
