4 pm: At 4 Negril by South bore N64°W St. Johns point N56°W. Ships in Savanna la Mar NbE 5 or 6 miles. Mount Edgecombe House E½N, Eastermost extreme of Land in sight ENE – At 5 set steering sails – Mustered the ships company at their Quarters – At 7 Negril by South, bore N5°W distant 6 or 7 miles. Eastermost Land bearing East; and the centre of Bluefields Mountain EbN – In steering sails
12 mid: Light breezes and cloudy weather wore ship – At ½ past 12 wore ship lightning in the NW.
2 am: Light airs inclinable to calm
5 am: At 5 a strange sail in sight to the westward. Day light, Negril by North, North Extremes N65°E, Negril by South, East, Southermost Extremes S80°E distance off shore 8 or 9 miles
8 am: At 8 bore up to speak the strange sail. Extremes of the Land from EbN½N to EbS – distance off shore 11 or 12 miles – Moderate breezes andf fair weather with haze
10 am: At 10 Hour.30 Minutes hove to and sent a boat for the Master of the Rose of London to get information about the Assistant who had not returned since leaving Port Royal. Washed between Decks – Packet and two Guineamen in company.
12 noon: At Noon light breezes and fair weather with haze. Extremes of the Land from E½N
to D¾S distance off shore 7 leagues
