Bond's Providence Logbook Jun 4, 1793

Remarks &c Tuesday 4th June 1793

 1 pm: Fresh gales and very hazy weather

 4 pm: At 4 Pedro Bluff WNW, distant 6 or 7 leagues. Extremes of the land in sight from WNW to NE, off shore 6 or 7 leagues. At 5 Pedro Bluff North 4 or 5 miles. In Steering sails.

 7 pm: At sunset Pedro Bluff E¾S, and Starve Gut Point NNW, distant off shore 3 miles – The westermost land NW½N. At 7 up Foresail, and hauled to the wind, sounded 20 fathoms water.

 8 pm: At 8 a fresh gale and fair weather with lightning in the NW.

12 mid: Heavy squalls with light showers of rain. In 3rd. reef Top Sails – Wore ship

 4 am: Wore ship

 5 am: At day light Black River point bore N66W – the Extremes of the Land from NNW to EbN, off shore 9 miles

 8 am: At 8 Luanna point E½N, Bluefields N½E, off shore 3 or 4 miles. Extremes of the Land in sight from WNW to ESE.

10 am: At 10 Hour.30 Minutes brought up with the small Bower in 5¼ fathoms water, sand and rocky bottom. The Tavern at Bluefields bearing NEbE, the shipping in Savanna la Mar NWbW½W – Extremes of the Land from SE½S to WbN, distance off shore about 1½ or 2 miles. In 2nd reef Top Sails and fuled sails – Hoisted out the Boats
