1 pm: Fresh gales and fair weather People washing and mending their Clothes. Sailmakers on the Quarter Deck Awning – In Top Gallant steering sails.
5 pm: Worked the Pumps as usual.
7 pm: Fresh gales and squally; in steering sails
8 pm: Ditto Weather
9 pm: In Top Gallant sails
11 pm: Squally – Dark to the Northward made ye the [sic] Assistant's Signal to go ahead and sound.
12 mid: Hard rain – up Fore sail – In 2nd & 3rd reefs Top Sails.
3 am: Squally with rain
5 am: Fresh gales with dard cloudy weather and much haze. Out 3rd reef and set Top Gallant sails.
7 am: Served Portable Soup Gruel for breakfast. Saw a Man of War bird, other sea birds, and some flying-fish. At 8 Saw the Island of Hispaniola bearing NNW – Washed the Gun, Orlop, and Cockpit Decks; and aired with fires. Sailmakers about the Awning. Saw some Grampuses & Porpoises. Served Krout.
12 noon: At Noon fresh gales & fine weather with haze. Assistant in company. Hispaniola
