Bond's Providence Logbook Jan 15, 1793

Remarks &c Tuesday 15th January 1793

 1 pm: Strong gales and cloudy weather – in loer steering sail

 3 pm: Sailmakers repairing sails – Passed through a strong rippling. Spoke the Assistant per signal – worked the Pumps.

 7 pm: Saw a Mother Carey's chicken.

 8 pm: In Top Gallant Sails & Fore Top Mast steering sail. At 8 set the Main Top Gallant sail

12 mid: Fair weather

 4 am: Fresh gales and hazy. set Fore Top Gallant Sail.

 5 am: Saw Albacores and flying-fish.

 7 am: Served the usual breakfast of thick Portable Soup Gruel.

 8 am: Ditto Weather Up all Chests & Bags and washed the Gun, Orlop & Cockpit decks – Aired ship with fires. At 9 out 2nd Top Sails(reef) and set Fore Top Mast steering sails – Served Krout. Sailmakers employed on the steering sails.

12 noon: Fresh breezes and fine weather – Assistant in company. Broached a puncheon of Spruce beer
