Bond's Providence Logbook Jan 10, 1793

Remarks &c 10th January 1793

 1 pm: Moderate breezes and thick rainy weather with squalls at times, & heavy showers. Made and shortened sail occasionally.

 4 pm: Fresh breezes and dark cloudy weather with heavy rain

 6 pm: Worked the Pumps.

 8 pm: Light breezes and cloudy.

10 pm: Squally – in Spanker.

12 mid: Moderate and cloudy weather

 2 am: Squally with rain. In Top Gallant Sails & steering sails

 3 am: More moderate made the same sail as before.

 4 am: Cloudy weather Saw 2 Dolphin.

 6 am: Served the customary breakfast of thick Gruel.

 8 am: Fresh breezes and cloudy set the larboard Steering sails. Cleaned below and aired with fires. Exercised Great Guns and small Arms – Marines firing blank Cartridges. Sailmakers and Carpenters always at work

11 am: At 11 squally with some rain shortened sail. At ½ past in 1st reef & made sail. Set the starboard Fore Top Mast steering sail – Served sour Krout.

12 noon: At Noon fresh breezes & cloudy – Assistant in company
   Latitude by an indifferent Observation 1°·59′ North
