Bond's Providence Logbook Dec 3, 1792

Remarks &c Monday 3rd December 1792

 1 pm: Fresh gales and cloudy, in 2nd reef Main, and 3rd reef Fore & Mizen Top Sails. Down Top Gallant Yards.

 2 pm: At 2 squally in 3rd reef Main Top Sail and struck Fore Top Gallant Mast – At 3 squally and thick weather close reefed the Fore & Mizen Top Sails – ½ past Wore ship.

 4 pm: At 4 strong gales and cloudy out 3 reef of ye Main Top Sail – Unbent the Fore Top Mast staysail. Saw Mother Carey's Chickens and Pintada birds

 8 pm: Strong breezes and cloudy weather

12 mid: Fresh breezes and fair weather

 4 am: Out 4th reef Fore Top Sail and swayed up Fore Top Gallant Mast.

 5 am: Out 3rd & 2nd reefs Top Sails, swayed Top Gallant Yards across and set the sails – Saw many whales; Pintada birds, Albatrosses, Sheerwaters and Carey Chickens, with 2 small birds with black heads and forked Tails; very much like Gannups. Served Portable Soup Gruel for Breakfast

 9 am: Washed the Gun, Orlop, and Cockpit decks, and aired with Fires – Carpenters caulking the upper Deck; Sailmakers mending sails and some people scraping and cleaning the Quarter Deck. Served Vinegar to day; Bore cole & Portable Soup thickened with Oatmeal for Dinner. At 10 light breezes set Fore Top Gallant Steering sails

12 noon: At Noon Light airs and disagreeable swell fro the WSW.
   Latitude Observed 37°: 9′:15″ South
