Bond's Providence Logbook Sep 3, 1792

Remarks &c towards Timor 3rd September 1792

 1 pm: Fresh breezes and fair weather wtih haze – At ⅔ past 12 Assistant made Signal for seeing Land in the SW – saw a Sandy Key from the Mast Head – ¾ past 1 hove all aback to clear a Shoal ahead and under the lee bow Got up a range of the Cable – And at 2 wore ship and kept the Lead constantly going, soundings as per Column

 8 pm: Moderate and fine clear weather

11 pm: Tacked per Signal – Noddies about the ship

 1 am: Fresh breezes and clear – Tacked per Signal

 2 am: Tacked Ship per Signal made to the Assistant

 4 am: Tacked as before

 6 am: Made ye Signal and spoke the Assistant – Out Cutter and sent her ahead of the Brig to lead – At 7 bore up, served the usual breakfast

 8 am: Ditto Weather cleaned below – Saw a Grampus. Served Portable Soup and Bore Cole thickened with Oatmeal for Dinner, and Vinegar as usual on Monday's – At 40 minutes past 11 the Assistant made ye Signal to Denote Danger; hauled to the wind on the Starboard tack andf sounded – Breakers seen from the Mast head bearing NbW ndf At Noon Moderate breezes and fair weather – Shoal bearing from WNW to N½W – Tacked Ship – Assistant in company
