Bond's Providence Logbook Aug 29, 1792

Remarks &c Wednesday 29th August 1792

 1 pm: Moderate breezes and fine weather with Haze – Roused up the small Bower cable and cleaned the Tier out – Paid down the cable again – Saw numbers of birds of the Gull species, and fish leaping – Passed by some pieces of wood lately broken.

 5 pm: A long swell getting up from the Eastward – Worked the Pumps as usual.

 6 pm: Shortened sail and in 1 & 2nd reefs Top Sails. Spoke the Assistant per Signal – found all well on board.

 9 pm: Fine clear weather a heavy Dew falling

12 mid: Cloudy – Noddies flying about the ship

 4 am: Light airs and cloudy

 6 am: Made all sail.

 8 am: Served thick Portable Soup Gruel as usual for breakfast.

 9 am: Fair weather clean swept below and aired with fires – Got the large Cutter over the Side.

11 am: Served Portable Soup and Sour Krout in the Pease for Dinner

12 noon: Light breezes and fair weather the Horizon very hazy – Assistant in company
Chronometers gave the Longitude to day 148°:03′ – the difference of Longitude is 67 miles from yesterday, but the Watches gave only 57 – this may prove for the error in taking the Altitudes
   Latitude Observed 10°·47′ South
