Bond's Providence Logbook Aug 27, 1792

Remarks &c Monday 27th August 1792

 1 pm: Moderate breezes and fair weather – At 1 shortened sail and sent the Whale boat for Lieutenant Portlock – ¼ past in boat and made all sail.

 3 pm: Skd the Pumps as usual.

 4 pm: Moderate breezes and clear weather

 5 pm: Shortened Sail and took 2 reefs in the Top sails
Caught a Booby with a fawn colour in the head – The feathers as bright as within. The wings were very Dark, but otherwise it might be called a white Booby. Its beak blue, full black eyes, and feet deep red.

 6 pm: At 6 The boat was sent with Lieutenant Portlock – in boat &c. – Under double reefed Top Sails

 9 pm: Caught a Noddy; and others about the ship

10 pm: Ditto Weather a Sea from the ESE

12 mid: Noddies &c. flying about the ship

 4 am: Hazy

 5 am: Made all sail

 6 am: Served thick Portable Soup Gruel for Breakfast.

 8 am: Cloudy – Saw a Man of War bird – Cleaned below & aired with Fires – Exercised Great Guns & small Arms. – Sailmakers mending sails, Carpenters painting the Pinnace &c.

10 am: Served Portable Soup & Bore Cole inm thick Gruel for Dinner – Vinegar as usual on Mondays

12 noon: Light breezes and fine weather with haze – Assistant in company
   Latitude Observed 11°·52′ South
