Bond's Providence Logbook Mar 6, 1792

Remarks &c towards Otaheite 6th March 1792

 1 pm: Strong gales and Misty weather with a high following sea

 2 pm: Saw a large Sheerwater, several Blue Petterals and Seals & some rock weed.

 3 pm: At 3 more moderate set the Fore sail – Let in water & pumped it out as usual.

 8 pm: Strong gales and squally with light rain Fires in all night to air the ship

11 pm: At 11 more moderate set Fore Top Sail

 3 am: Assistant astern – Clewed the Top Sails up and carryed a light – Handed Fore Top Sail

 5 am: Set Main Top Sail – Strong gales & cloudy weather

 6 am: At 6 more moderate set the Fore, Mizen & out 4th reef Main Top Sails – Saw Cape Hens, Carey Chickens and a seal

 9 am: Served the usual Breakfast.

10 am: At 10 made more sail. out 3rd reef Top Sail and 1st Fore Sail Cleaned below and aird with fires. Served Krout & Sweet Wort & broached a puncheon of Spruce Beer

12 noon: Moderate breezes and thick misty weather with a high swell from the SW – Assistant in company
   No Observation
