Providence Logbook Dec 8, 1792

Remarks Saturday 8th December 1792 Towards [St. Helena]

 1 pm: Fresh Gale and Fair Weather with Haze.

 2 pm: Some Albetrosses Pintada Birds, Mother Careys Chicken and the common Sheerwaters.

 4 pm: Porpoises and a Species of Nautiluses, called Portuguese Men of War.

 6 pm: Let fresh Water into the Ship and ventilated with the Pumps.

 9 pm: A Heavy Dew

12 mid: Clear Weather

 5 am: Served thick Portable Soup Gruel for Breakfast. Krout as customary.

 8 am: Very Hazy Weather. Water smoother which enables the Assistant to keep way with us.

 9 am: Employed cleaning Ship and Airing with Fires, Painting, Sailmakers repairing Sails

12 noon: Fair pleasant Gale. Assistant in Company All Sails set.
 Broached a Puncheon of Spruce Beer.
